Wall Decorations & Pictures

I was looking around on the web, thinking as a spider...
what can I catch in my silky smooth string-
and bring to inspect
bit by bit to make my own creation?
Does this Spider Man look like he's thinking?  Jackson would love this! :)

Alas, while I was looking in my friendly neighborhood, also known as the world wide web, I found these sweet wall displays of pictures.  I also added my own wall displays on here as well.
This is my kitchen wall.
I used cork board and covered with fabric and then used it as a bulletin board
so I could pin up favorite quotes and pictures.
For the smaller squares, I used a plate holder from Hobby Lobby
and then painted smaller wood squares black and add pictures and paper.
The kids love their big pictures on the wall.
This is my living room wall on one side.  We took these pictures
last fall, and my friend, Shannon, was so sweet and patient with us.
I love the way they turned out.
My favorite picture is the one with us in the bottom corner.
The kids were going through a phase that whenever Brian
would kiss me they would chant, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
We would gladly do so!  I love the look on each of their faces.
This is the other living room wall. They look like they don't tie in, but they do.
I bought a book from DI, a local thrift store for $2 or $3.  I chose a book about
being a good Mom and important principles to teach our children.
Then I carefully pulled out each page & layered it over a
poster board I had cut to the size I wanted.   I carefully glued each piece down,
and then taped down a couple of pieces after it was hanging up.
Then I inked the edges black.  I want to replace the key with the
letter of our last name, but can't find the look of the letter I like yet.
The silhouettes of the kids I did by taking a picture of their profile and then tracing it in photoshop.
Then I made it all black and put it together on a new file & added the words "brothers" or "sisters"
under their pictures.  The kids thought this was pretty cool.
Thanks for looking at my wall displays.

Click on the pictures below and look at these beautiful wall displays from other artists. Hopefully you'll get some inspiration for the bare walls in your home. Good luck!

This, by far, is my absolute favorite!  I love the colors, the wall,
the clean feel of it all- everything. If I had white couches at my
house, they would look like a crisp clean brown white all the time!

My favorite part are the pictures on the shelf. I love the different
sizes & numbers & kids.  Such a cute idea!

Look at how cool this display is & in-expensive too, & she even
has a tutorial on EXACTLY how to do it!
I think this will be my next project.
I like to read a blog (www.71toes.blogspot.com) and they have
a map close to their dining room so they can talk during dinner about current events
and places in the world.
I love the idea of my kids knowing there
are other places in the world like China, Africa, Italy, & Austrailia.
Instead of the world just consisting of our house & Grandma's house.

I love the way these canvas pictures look & I love how different each picture is.

I LOVE the different sizes of this one-

I love the colors & how unique this one is- I think this
would make me happy anytime I walked by it.

And, here are mine for my home- they too make
me happy every time I walk by them.

  3. YAY I love your ideas.. Plus the last one I thought gave me an idea to capture those similar views from my own life and put them up. We have the fair here right now, we have a game we play (made by hand and we own the store bought version of sequnce)with grandparents, pcitures from Mackinaw island.... YAY great ideas. I think I will do the games just for the toy room. You are an inspiration, thanks.

I am in the process of painting a canvas to match my friends childs sheeting so the kids rooms are all ready for school (they are moving back to Michigan). So I am in the mode of creating. Plus my kids rooms are un finished and I need to correct this. My 3 yr old, I need to finish, my son has batman and he is 11, So I need to change his. My son is sweet about it because I painted the batman lifesize "better than the comics", So he has given me a grace period I hope to close before Christmas. - I love your ideas and look forward to blogging with you.
